I had to read that to my husband. If I did the all the chores first, I'd never get to sew. And the bit about appearance, so much of the time, I'm sewing in my pajamas.Mama Bear
Grin! Love it!! I also have been known to sew in my pyjamas! I came across advise for being a 'good hostess' recently - similar era - what a hoot!
So that's why I don't sew as well as I should. I don't put lippy on and do my hair before I start! LOL
I know, I thought if it looked like I was doing the housework, i.e. vacuum cleaner parked in the hallway - that would count, but sadly no :)
I love it ...... just between you and me ..... There is a little bit on me in that .....Cannot sew if there is domestic chores to be do .... but we will keep this between the two of us
I think our modern day equivalent is p'j's, hair in a mess and fluffy slippers, that IS what gets me in the sewing frame of mind. The first paragraph though, as true as when it was written!Off to put on a dress (I'm sure I have one around somewhere), do my hair and find some lippy, maybe then today I will sew straight lines, lol. Wonder if we are supposed to wear heels too?
Whew, I wouldn't measure up to the 1940's standards!! Fun to read though.
HI! Kathy, That is so funny,I dont know if I am "neatly put together" when I sew I know the sewing table is not very neat. The rest of the house is reasonable, that is free enough for me. I better go and take my slippers off now and see if that helps.
I totally agree with you !!! SO glad to be in 2012 !!!Florence
